Maldevta Diaries: Treasure the days that feels like forever.
Long back on a school picnic trip we drove to Maldevta farms. Dehradun is disguised heaven, not because of its scenic greenery, but the kind of calm and healthy breeze in sacred corners- something still missing in most crowded cities, the kind of weather draped in mists, despite its hot days;heat waves of summer, yet the cool evening makes you forget it all. No worries of traffic, there are still areas enroute to farms and green spreads ;shortcuts to be walked on, they never makes us miss the vibes of residing in countryside.

The flow of water doesn’t let you stop, it makes you move with reason… Maldevta farms cost us less in group of hundred. But the moment you get your backpack down, believe me, you’ll never want to pack again once unpacked. We had only a few hours of the day to recreate, but I already decided to live a whole life there.

I’m completely spent… There were numerous tents surrounding a big ground and on ground where we were instructed for physical sports, adventure activities by practiced instructors. There are a several activities to be carried, which were fun and also challenging.

Including zip lining, trekking, swimming, riverside campaign, etc. The most therapeutic was trekking, we traced a short distance from the farms across maldevta bridge, admiring the multiple river bodies, and the moment we stepped on the rocks, seating over them beside the flowing river, resting and playing with water inside. The river flowing slowly, in no hurry, completely takes away all the lethargy and tiredness overcome after a long traverse, contained by your gaze the view is so worth watching.

But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep ~ Robert Frost Watching the birds, and the pet animals inside farms, they provide and serve food, also the army style tents for changing and luggage. It was not my first time to hills, even after being to nanital, areas in sahyadri hill range other places, but dehradun had a spellbound leaving me enchanted. First time in Dehradun? Maldevta is a must-visit. This offbeat spot offers the perfect mix of serene riverside trekking and active adventure sports. Visit in late october or late february for the best breezy, slightly cold weather. And this is most affordable and highly valuable, you won’t feel a minute wasted, it’s that engaging.
Amongst feasible travel transportation are public buses, cabs, personal car. We started by bus from Roorkee to Dehradun via chhutmalpur, travelling for approximately 2 to 2.5 hours covering over 50kms. If you are starting from Dehradun ghanta ghar, the ISBT bus from parade ground (Raipur maldevta), after raipur cricket stadium 2km straight is maldevta farms gate.
If I am a little good in poetry, but Dehradun would have been a poem to a great poet I wish in my diary, that would mark the existence of my very present thoughts, I borrow for every unique creative writing from its scenery… Dehradun ignites that fire, that will continue to be a part reflecting in my writings. And I still seek for a time to completely lose myself and mind in hopes to reshape it this beautiful and unique like Maldevta, Alone but complete.
